UK to host women’s Olympic Qualifying in Nottingham

Great Britain Women’s Casey Traill has created history by becoming the first UK player to be drafted to the National Women’s Hockey League (NWHL).
The NWHL is one of the two top women’s professional league in North America – the equivalent to the NHL – and Traill was drafted in the fifth round – 25th overall – by Buffalo Beauts in last night’s 2021 Draft.

Mike Clancy has been appointed as the new Head Coach of Great Britain Women.
The 46-year-old moves up from his previous role as Assistant Coach after first joining the GB programme as Head Coach of the men’s under-16s in 2019.
Clancy has worked with England Under 16s/17s and U19s, as well as coaching The Midlands in the Conference programme.

The host nations for the 2021 World Championship tournaments involving Great Britain have been fully confirmed following the IIHF annual Congress.
GB Women to begin Olympic Qualifying campaign in Korea next year
Great Britain Women will travel to Korea next year to begin their bid to qualify for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
As well as facing the hosts Korea, GB will come up against Slovenia and a qualifier from the previous round.
IIHF Council To Submit New 2020/21 Proposal
During a video conference call on 19 May, the IIHF Council has established a set of key proposals that will impact of the upcoming 2020/2021 international ice hockey season.
These proposals will be brought up for vote by the IIHF Member National Associations (MNAs) at the 2020 IIHF Extra-Ordinary Congress, which is intended to take place in a virtual format with the target date on Wednesday, 24 June.

Great Britain Women have unveiled their team that would’ve gone to the World Championship Division II Group A in Jaca later this month.
GB were set to compete against hosts Spain, as well as Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Latvia and Mexico, in the six-team tournament.
