2022 World Championship Tournaments Confirmed

The host nations for the 2022 World Championship tournaments involving Great Britain’s teams have been confirmed at the IIHF’s annual Congress today.

GB men’s team already know they will be off to Finland for the World Championship next year as the Finns were confirmed as hosts back in 2017. The two venues will be Helsinki and Tampere with the make-up of the two groups expected shortly.

After today’s meeting at Congress, GB Women, GB Under-20s and GB Under-18s now know the destinations for their 2022 World Championship tournaments – and there has been no change of host nations from the competitions cancelled in 2021 because of the pandemic.

Great Britain Women will travel to Spain, GB U20s will go to Romania and GB U18s are off to Estonia.

However, a decision on the group that Great Britain Under-18 Women will be in will be made later this year. The IIHF are considering changes to the sizes of each group in Division II and plans will be finalised at Semi-Annual Congress in September.
