MELICHERIK APPOINTED GB U18 MEN’S ASSISTANT COACH

Milos Melicherik has been appointed Assistant Coach of Great Britain Under-18s Men’s team.

The 48-year-old is currently Head Coach of the Guildford Junior Ice Hockey Club and works across all teams.

The Slovakia-born former forward – who is a Level 3 coach – first came to the UK to ice for Guildford Flames in 2003.

Melicherik spent 12 years a Guildford player and had a spell as Assistant Coach at the Flames.

He links up with Head Coach Sean Easton and fellow assistant Andy Brown in the under-18s coaching set-up.

Melicherik said: “It’s a great honour to be appointed to the role and it’s something I didn’t hesitate to accept.

“I look forward to the challenge that lies ahead and I’m delighted to be part of this under-18s coaching team.

“I’ve known Sean for many years and have always admired his hard work and dedication.

“I hope that my knowledge and coaching experience will help and inspire our young players to win a medal at the World Championship in Serbia in April.”

National Development Head Coach, Tony Hand MBE, said: “We are thrilled to welcome Milos to the under-18s coaching staff.

“His knowledge of ice hockey – and in particular junior ice hockey – is outstanding and he’s a superb addition to the team.

“Milos knows the sport inside out and I am sure the team will benefit from his years of experience on and off the ice.”
