GB Women U18 2-4 Poland Women U18

Great Britain Under-18 Women put in a brave performance but slipped to a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Poland Under-18 Women in the final game at the three-day international tournament at Ice Sheffield.

GB took the lead after only 81 seconds with a well-worked goal as the puck came to Millie Overton on the doorstep to slip the puck home (1:21).

This was quickly followed by GB’s second as Jessica Urquhart redirected Beth Barwell’s shot into the net (5:53).

Katargxna Wxbiral pounced on a mistake in the GB defence to close the gap to a one-goal deficit at the end of the first period (17:25) and Poland levelled the game at 25:02 as Oliwia Tomcgok cut inside from the left and fired low past Emily Cole.

GB had to be strong to kill off 42 seconds of five on three and the two sides were tied at two at the end of the second period.

Sopata Dominika sneaked home Poland’s third at 53:31 and Wiktoria Dgiwok’s neat top-shelf finish wrapped the game up at 58:59.

GB Supporters’ Club Player of the Tournament was awarded to Jessica Urquhart.

Spain won the tournament – taking eight points out of a possible nine – with a 7-0 victory over Hungary in the day’s first game.
