GB Under 20’s To Face Hull Pirates

Great Britain Under-20s will take on Hull Pirates next week as part of their preparations for December’s World Championship in Budapest.

The GB youngsters and EPL side Hull will go head to head on Wednesday 16th November, with the game facing off at 7:30pm.

GB begin a two-day camp on Tuesday 15th November and will include on-ice and off-ice sessions at Ice Sheffield, before the trip to Hull.

Tommy Watkins’ side are preparing for the Division 1B tournament, where they will face hosts Hungary, as well as Slovenia, Poland, Italy and Ukraine, from 11th to 17th December 2016.

“This is a vital camp in our preparations for December’s World Championship,” said Watkins.

“It is only a month away from the tournament and it is important we get the squad together.

“The game against Hull will be very useful as we can get the players into match situations.

“I would like to thank Hull Pirates for enabling this to happen.”

Pirates coach, Dominic Osman, said: “When Tom (Watkins) called me regarding the opportunity to play the Under-20s, I immediately contacted Shane.

“We jumped at the opportunity as we want to help out the GB programme as much as possible.

“It will also be a good skate for us as a team before a big weekend.

“We have two players who will be icing for GB, so it will be a good chance for us to look at them from the opposing side.

“We appreciate the opportunity to help out and look forward to the night.”

Ticket prices for the game in Hull are £5 for adults and children go free.
