Russell Pleased With GB U20 Camp

Great Britain Under-20s continued their preparations for their World Championship tournament with the squad meeting for a camp at Ice Sheffield yesterday (Tuesday).

There were two on-ice sessions for the youngsters and also some off-ice testing.

The GB youngsters are three months away from IIHF World Championship action and will travel to Estonia in December for the Division 2A tournament.

As well as facing the hosts, they will come up against Korea, Lithuania, Netherlands and Romania in the six-team IIHF tournament from 7th to 13th December 2014.

Head coach, Pete Russell, said: “It was an excellent camp and the players got a lot out of it.

“These are now a massive few months for us and our preparation has to be spot on.

“Camps like the one are very important as we fine-tune our plans for the Worlds.

“We will get ourselves some match practice in November against the Nottingham Lions and continue to build up for the tournament.

“We have a great bunch of players in the mix for the final squad and it will be a tough choice.

“Some good players will miss out but it shows the quality we have in the program the moment.”
