GB Women Supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month when people across the world show their support for those affected by breast cancer.  Traditionally in hockey family this involves pink jerseys.

This week in Nottingham, Great Britain’s Women will be showing their support with help from main sponsor SMP Europe who have had a special warmup jersey produced for the team to wear ahead of their games.

SMP have changed their logo colours this year from blue to pink as part of a company-wide campaign to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer charities.

Managing Director of SMP Europe, Ross Toomey said: “We want to use our platform as main sponsor for good and we hope it will lead to a really powerful campaign in support of breast cancer charities.

“Having the GB Women wearing pink will send a strong message of support and we are pleased to supply the jerseys for them to wear this week.”

Great Britain captain Saffron Allen added: “We are delighted to support Breast Cancer Awareness month and using the platform of this event and our team to promote the cause is a brilliant idea.

“The jerseys from SMP Europe look fantastic and we hope that they can help with awareness and spread the word about self-checking and the importance of early detection in getting treatment and improved survival rates.”
