GB Women Name Final Team for Dumfries

Great Britain Women have named their final team for the World Championship in Dumfries, which gets under way later this month.

Dumfries Ice Bowl hosts the Division 2A tournament from 30th March to 5th April as GB take on Croatia, Kazakhstan, Korea, New Zealand and Poland in the six-team IIHF tournament.

The squad took part in their final pre-tournament training camp at the weekend as GB continued their preparations for the World Championship.

Coach Cheryl Smith said: “We are in the final straight now ahead of the World Championship in Dumfries and these are exciting times.

“We had another fantastic camp at the weekend and everyone was very focused.

“You can see how determined they are to do well in Dumfries and they can’t wait to get on the ice for real.”

Coach Michelle Smith said: “It was good to get everyone together ahead of the World Championship.

“We have a great squad and it has been tough to reduce it down to a final 22.

“The battle for places in Dumfries has been very competitive, but we have put together a team that we think will do very well.”
