GB U18 Women 1-4 Poland U18 Women

GB U18 Women ended their World Championship (Division 1 Qualification) tournament in Katowice with a 4-1 defeat by hosts Poland.

It was another busy night for netminder Molly Brooks – who was named as GB’s player of the tournament – as Sean Alderson’s side were outshot 30-15.

GB took the lead at 5:09 when player of the match Beth Barwell set up Katerina Lossnitzer.

But Poland hit back to lead 2-1 by the end of the period with Olivia Tomczok and Kamila Wieczorek both on target.

Julia Gawlik and Joanna Strzelecka scored goals within 68 seconds of each other near the start of period two to complete the scoring.

In the other games on the final day, Italy beat China 2-0 and Denmark were 4-0 winners over Kazakhstan.

Denmark win the gold medal and promotion to Division 1 with five wins from five matches, Italy claim silver and Poland take bronze.
