GB U18 6-2 SERBIA U18

A Finley Bradon hat-trick helped Great Britain secure a 6-2 victory over Serbia in the Under-18 World Championship Division II Group A in Belgrade.

It’s a second win in three matches and moves GB up to third in group with five points, behind second-placed Lithuania and leaders Croatia.

Andreja Popovic set-up Minja Ivanovic from behind the net and his shot was deflected past Luca Tessardi to give the hosts the lead (13:05).

Kyle Carruth fed Bradon in the slot for GB’s equaliser (18:48) as the two sides were level at one-all at the first intermission.

Bradon then scored on the powerplay as he exchanged passes with Brodie Kay before firing from left point (24:22) and then completed his treble with a neat finish after Sebastian Mohr had created the turnover (27:33).

Oliver Knaggs netted an outstanding solo goal when he won the puck in his own zone, beat one defenceman and used his speed to beat another before firing in GB’s fourth (35:48).

Kosta Mladenovic closed the gap for Serbia with a neat wrist-shot from the top of the right circle (54:16).

Serbia lifted netminder Filip Korenic for the extra skater which saw Josh Shaw score into the empty net (57:32) and just over two minutes later he scored his second from slot after being set-up by Sam Lyne (59:49).
