Eleven UK officials to officiate at IIHF tournaments

Eleven UK officials will officiate at IIHF World Championship tournaments in the 2017-18 season.

The selections by the sport’s governing body to the high-profile tournaments is recognition of the high standards of the UK officials.

Ice Hockey UK’s referee-in-chief, Joy Johnston, said: “Congratulations to our officials who have been assigned an international tournament this year from the IIHF.

“We continue to do well internationally and recognition of this is the number of officials who have been assigned to an IIHF World Championship event.

“We have had 11 of our officials called up for international duty as part of the IIHF world championship programme.

“The better they perform at their events the more likely we will be in the future to get international assignments for our officials.

“I’m sure they will do us proud. Good luck to everyone and enjoy the opportunity and experience.

“Also a special mention to Faye Andrews who has joined our group of IIHF licensed officials, so we could start her on her IIHF journey.

“She will be going to Spain at the beginning of November to officiate at the Four Nations women’s tournament where the GB national team will compete.

“This is the first step for Faye in her IIHF journey and so we wish her well and hope it will lead to more events and IIHF championships in the future.”
