Colton appointed GB Women’s assistant coach

Jeff Colton has been named as a new assistant coach for Great Britain Women.

He joins head coach Cheryl Smith and fellow assistant coach James Ashton in the GB Women’s programme.

Colton has been involved in coaching for the past 16 years at all levels from under-8s to the EPL.

He has also coached at the Conference tournament, as well as England, and is currently coaching Sheffield Under-18s.

Smith said: “I am excited to welcome Jeff to be part of the GB Women’s programme.

“He is very well respected within the game and I know he will work well with myself and James.

“He has already done a little bit of work for us and I know he will fit in well and be a great addition to the coaching set-up.”

Colton added: “I’d like to thank the board for giving me this opportunity to be involved at GB level.

“I’ve worked with Great Britain Women a bit last season, so know Cheryl and her team.

“I’m excited and looking forward to the season ahead and can’t wait to get on the ice and start working with the team.”
