U18 WOMEN’S WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS HEAD TO DUMFRIES
Ice Hockey UK and Dumfries and Galloway Council are excited to announce that the 2023 Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division II Group A will be held in Dumfries next year.
After a memorable run to the gold-medal game in the nine-team tournament in Istanbul, they were beaten 3-1 by Spain who are promoted to Division 1.
Ellin Rees scored the winner in the extra period after netminder Emma Nichols had saved a Netherlands penalty shot with just over a minute remaining in normal time.
GB now face the Netherlands on Sunday and need a victory to stand a chance of playing for the gold medal and promotion.
It means GB finish top of Group A with two victories from two matches following their 6-0 victory over Mexico on Monday.
The nine teams are split into three groups of three, with the tournament running from 27th June to 5th July on two ice sheets at the Zeytinburnu Ice Rink.
