Peacock: Hard Fought Win Will Benefit GB

Forward Craig Peacock believes Thursday’s hard-fought win over Netherlands will benefit Great Britain for the rest of the Olympic Pre-Qualifiers in Cortina.

GB were made to work hard for their 6-5 victory over Netherlands, but they held their nerve to secure a vital three points.

Pete Russell’s side now come up against Serbia today, before completing the four-game tournament with a game against hosts Italy on Sunday.

Peacock said: “It was a tough game against Netherlands but we found a way to come through it.

“We had our ups and downs but the key was that we never let our heads drop.

“We have a great spirit amongst the GB boys and that can help in tough times.

“We proved in last year’s World Championship we could win big matches and beat some top nations.

“To go through in this tournament we will have to beat a very good team in Italy.

“But we cannot think about that just yet. We must focus on Serbia and make sure we treat them with respect.”

GB against Serbia gets under way at 5 o’clock local time  (4pm UK time).
