IHUK To Host U16 International Tournament in Dumfries

Ice Hockey UK will host an under-16’s international tournament in Dumfries in December.

Great Britain Under-16s will be joined by Belgium U16s, Netherlands U16s and Spain U16s for the four-team tournament from Wednesday 28th to Friday 30th December 2016.

It comes off the back of a successful international tournament in Spain last season, which was attended by the GB youngsters.

The tournament will be held at the Dumfries Ice Bowl, which has previously hosted three IIHF World Championship tournaments.

IHUK general secretary, Andy French, said: “It is important for this age-group to get international experience.

“The tournament in Spain last season was the first one since the under-16s were reformed.

“I know the coaching staff took a lot from that and we decided to host the tournament this year.

“There are some exciting players in the GB set-up at the moment and it will be great to see them in competitive action.”
