Hungary trip for GB U18 Women

Great Britain Under-18 Women will take part in an international tournament in Budapest in October.

GB will face Hungary U18 Women, as well as Poland U18 Women and Spain Women, from Tuesday 4th to Thursday 6th October 2016.

The tournament is taking place for a second successive year following the inaugural event in Ice Sheffield last year, which was won by Spain Women.

GB will once again ice a young side and will take the opportunity to have a look at some of their under-16 players in a competitive environment.

Coach, Michelle Smith, said: “This is a great chance for us to ice the younger players and see how they cope with an international tournament.

“The competition for places right now is at an all-time high. From a coach’s point of view, you couldn’t ask for more.

“At last year’s Ice Sheffield tournament we played some youngsters and they came through and went on to ice at the Under-18 World Championship tournament in Austria.

“Some then went on to play in the Women’s World Championship in Slovenia and are now very much part of our squad.

“We have some very talented young players in our programme and this is an ideal time to see how good they are.”
