GB U20 3-0 Lithuania U20

Great Britain Under-20s beat Lithuania Under-20s 3-0 in a warm-up game in St Gheorghe ahead of the World Championship Division II Group A in Romania which gets under way in Brasov on Monday.

Netminders Lucas Brine and Daniel Crowe combined to shutout Lithuania, playing half the game each.

Alex Graham gave GB a first-period lead, while Brine saved a penalty shot.

Nathan Ripley made it 2-0 in the second session and that was quickly followed by a goal from Oliver Endicott.

Crowe took over from Brine between the pipes halfway through the period as the GB coaching staff rotated their netminders.

There were no goals in the third session but GB’s penalty kill units were kept busy, seeing off a spell of five-on-three.

Head coach, Martin Grubb, said: “We were good, especially five on five. When we got our lines rolling in the second period we dominated them, especially down low with our puck movement.

“Defensively we were solid and limited their scoring chances and both goalies were very good. Overall, it was a good workout with plenty of positives but also plenty to improve on.”

GB play their second and final warm-up game tomorrow as they face Spain (5pm UK time), before the two sides meet again in the World Championship opener on Monday.
