GB U18s suffer narrow warm-up defeat

Great Britain Under-18s were beaten 5-4 by OHA Europe in St Polten, Austria in the first of two games as part of their World Championship preparations.

GB are currently in the middle of a training camp ahead of the World Championship Division 2 Group A, which starts in Korea this weekend.

Finlay Ulrick, Mac Howlett, Harry Gulliver and Tyler Cooper scored GB’s goals against OHA Europe.

Coach, Martin Grubb, said: “These games are all about getting prepared for Korea and we haven’t been together since December, so we knew there would be some areas we needed to work on.

“There were lots of positives for us to take but we also learnt a lot about the players and team in a challenging situation.

“Although it’s always nice to win, we always said it was all about learning and being ready for our opening game against Estonia and this allows us to help do that.

“We will now review the game, learn from it and make sure we are better tomorrow as part of our preparations.”

GB meet OHA Europe again tomorrow in Bratislava, Slovakia.
