Duggan reflects on ‘special’ first international goals

Sam Duggan scored his first two international goals on his fourth appearance for Great Britain to leave the 18-year-old to reflect on a “special moment”.

GB beat Netherlands 14-0 to move level on points with Japan at the top of the World Championship Division 1 Group B table to set up a winner-takes-all game tomorrow (7:30pm).

“It was fantastic to get my first two GB goals and I enjoyed the experience so much,” said Duggan.

“My mum and dad were here to see it, so it really was something special.

“It is great to be part of this team and I am loving playing in a men’s World Championship.”

The winner of tomorrow’s match between GB and Japan will be promoted to Division 1 Group A of the World Championship for 2018.

“Tomorrow’s match is massive and will probably be the biggest I have ever played it,” continued Duggan.

“I can’t wait to be part of such an important game for Great Britain.”
