Great Britain produced a superb battling performance to beat Spain 1-0 in the Under-18 Women’s World Championship Division I Group B in Katowice.
Netminder Evelyn Brown was outstanding as she secured a 41-shot shutout.
Miley Draisey and Ellie Shaw combine to set-up Olivia Bath who cut in off the left to put GB ahead in the first period (16:59).
There were no goals in the second period as Brown made 14 saves to keep Spain at bay.
GB defended heroically in the third period, killing off three successive penalties which included over a minute of five-on-three for Spain.
Brown made a string of top-class saves including an absolute stunner to deny Marta Aznar on the powerplay.
GB took a late penalty which saw Spain go six-on-four as they lifted netminder for the extra skater, but still GB stood firm and Brown produced a stunner of a save to deny Carlota Castellanos.
There are no games in the tournament tomorrow but GB return to action on Thursday against China. Face-off is 20:00 (19:00 GMT).
