Great Britain were beaten 5-1 by Slovenia in the opening game of the IIHF Euro Cup of Nations in Poland.
Lucas Brine got the start between the pipes with Renny Marr as back-up. Patrick Larkin was ruled out because of injury.
Marcel Mahkovec (09:12), Luka Maver (11:48) and Jaka Sodja (13:11) gave Slovenia a three-goal first-period lead.
Logan Neilson scored on the powerplay (27:05) in the second session to reduce the arrears.
Slovenia hit back exactly two minutes later through Ziga Urukalo (29:05) and Sodja scored his second of the night (32:16) to complete the scoring.
GB return to action tomorrow (Friday) against Italy.
