World Championship in Dumfries on FreeSports and webcast

Great Britain’s games at the Under-20 World Championship Division II Group A in Dumfries will be shown live on FreeSports.

The six-team tournament involves GB, Estonia, Japan, Korea, Netherlands and Romania.

The tournament is being held at the Dumfries Ice Bowl in Scotland and runs from Sunday 10th to Saturday 16th December 2017.

Ice Hockey UK chairman, Richard Grieveson, said: “We are excited that the GB games will be showcased on free-to-air television.

“This is a major event in the ice hockey calendar this season and it is great news that it will be shown live.

“We would like to thank FreeSports and the production company 24/7 for making this happen.”

Richard Webb, from FreeSports, said: “We are delighted to be able to bring ice hockey fans in the UK free access to watch the future of the game playing in this important tournament.

“This coverage adds to our free live ice hockey portfolio which includes NHL, CHL, SHL, Great Britain Men and 25 matches from the IIHF World Championship in May.”

Commentary will come from long-time ice hockey broadcaster Bob Ballard, who said: “I am really excited to be commentating on the GB games from the Under-20 tournament from Dumfries.

“I am sure it will be a fantastic tournament and I look forward to sharing it with supporters across the UK.”

FreeSports is available on Freeview channel 95, Sky channel 424, BT channel 95, Freesat channel 252 and TalkTalk channel 95.

Webcast
There will also be a webcast on each game of the U20 World Championship Division II Group A.

A tournament pass will cost £30 which gives access to all 15 games.

In addition, each game will be available to purchase at a cost of £6 with a replay of a single match costing £3.
