GB Women Off To Netherlands

Great Britain Women travel to Rotterdam on Friday night for a busy weekend of international hockey against the Netherlands.

The two games are part of their preparations for the World Championship (Division 2A) in Dumfries.

Saturday night sees the teams on the ice in Dordrecht and Sunday sees both teams travel to Tilburg.

The team returns to the UK on Monday morning.

Head coach, Paul Burton, said: “This is a great opportunity for us to spend the weekend working both on and off the ice with the squad in a competitive environment.

“Playing opposition from the World Championship group above us will show how the programme is progressing on the world stage.

“I would like to thank both IHUK and Netherlands Ice Hockey for arranging this and hope this will be the start of a longer term relationship between the two countries.

“We also hear that some of our truly dedicated GB supporters are making the trip for what promises to be a good weekend of hockey.

“We will be missing some injured players and our Canadian-based players, but with all spots on the team still up for grabs, it’s time for players to stake a claim.”
