The Sheffield-born twins, who led GB Women to a silver medal at this year’s World Championship in Dumfries, will continue in their role as head coaches, but also oversee GB U18 Women, GB U16 Women and the progression of players from as young as 10 years old.
James Ashton has been added to the coaching staff. Ashton, who also has experience as a referee, has been coaching junior players in Manchester.
MIchelle Smith said: “James is a very good up-and-coming coach and we have had great reports on him.
“He will be an excellent addition to our team.”
Lisa Calvert will take up the position of manager of GB Women, Gael Moffat will be the program’s sports therapist, with Jade Cito working as the video analyst.
Cheryl Smith added: “The off-ice side of the squad is very important and we have some great staff working with us.
“Lisa and Gael were with us in Dumfries and were a vital part of the squad.
“Both of them will play a big role within the squad, as will Jade who is providing video analysis that is so advanced and so useful to the program.
“Jade was fantastic for us in Dumfries and she is already getting noticed across the UK.”
Ice Hockey UK general secretary, Andy French, said: “Under Cheryl and Michelle, these are exciting times for the development of women’s ice hockey in the UK.
“There’s lots happening on the off-ice sides of things, with strength and conditioning, along with nutrition, very important.”
