GB U18 To Warm-Up Against Finland

Great Britain Under-18 Mens Team will face a team in Finland as part of their preparations for March’s IIHF World Championship tournament in Tallinn.

The GB youngsters will compete in Division 2A with hosts Estonia, as well as Croatia, Korea, Netherlands and Poland, from 22nd to 28th March.

Martin Grubb’s side will face a challenge game against a Helsinki junior side on Friday 20th March, before travelling to Tallinn on Saturday 21st March,

Great Britain Under-20s undertook the same preparations before their tournament in December, which saw them promoted back to Division 1B.

GB U18s will also have a training camp in Sheffield on 3rd and 4th February, which will include a game against a Coventry ENL Select team on the evening of the 3rd.

Grubb said: “This is fantastic preparation for an important tournament.

“We identified this as a possibility in May when we were preparing for this year and after speaking with Pete Russell, he told me how useful it was for the under-20s in their build-up to the World Championship back in December.

“The game in Helsinki will get the boys focused and some important game time before the tournament begins.

“February’s camp in Sheffield and the game in Coventry will be important too – and it will be good to get the squad together before we head off to Finland and Estonia.”
