GB Arrive in Eindhoven

Great Britain have completed their first training session in the Netherlands ahead of next week’s World Championship (Division 1B).

GB flew from Birmingham to Amsterdam this lunchtime and made the one-and-a-half-hour coach journey to Eindhoven.

It was straight to the rink and into a practice session for the squad under the eyes of coach Pete Russell.

Great Britain begin their tournament on Monday with a game against Croatia (12:30pm UK time).

They then face Estonia (Tuesday), Korea (Thursday), Netherlands (Saturday) and Lithuania (Sunday), with the winners promoted to Division 1A.

Coach Russell said: “We had a good first session to get us settled over here.

“It wasn’t anything too dramatic and stressful but was good to blow the cobwebs off after a travel day.

“The boys are in good spirits and there were lots of smiles on the ice.

“We go into this week on the back of the two wins over Poland, so we have prepared in the best way possible.

“We are focused and determined and we wil now rest up tonight in preparation for tomorrow’s morning training session ahead of our first game on Monday.”
