Coach Smith Happy With Preparations

Great Britain Women’s coach Cheryl Smith says the match with a Solway Sharks Select side in Dumfries tonight was great preparation for next week’s World Championship.

GB had their first training session at Dumfries Ice Bowl this morning and then played the Solway side in the evening.

Solway won the game 9-4, with Jodie Bloom scoring twice for GB and one each for Paige Henry and Sophie Herbert.

Cheryl Smith said: “It was a good workout for the team and we took a lot from it.

“It was excellent to see the girls in a game situation and we were able to work on our special teams.

“It is all about the correct preparation at this stage and this game was very useful.

“We have now got a couple more important days together before our first game next week.”

GB’s first game in the World Championship (Division 2A) is on Monday against New Zealand (8pm).
