It was a historic weekend for British hockey. For the first time in a quarter century, Team GB is in the top group of the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship. On Saturday night, they stayed with Germany almost right till the end, losing 3-1. Sunday night against Canada wasn’t quite as close, but they didn’t get embarrassed either, falling 8-0.

Forward Ben Davies says the frame of mind is positive as Great Britain get ready for their third game at the World Championship in Slovakia.
After no game at the tournament today, GB return to action tomorrow when they face Denmark at 4:15pm (3:15pm UK) in the Steel Arena.

Great Britain were beaten 8-0 by the world’s top seeds Canada in their second game at the World Championship in Slovakia.
Ben Bowns produced some world-class saves throughout the game, but Canada secured their first win of the tournament following their opening-day loss to Finland.

Great Britain were beaten 3-1 by Germany on their return to the elite level of the World Championship in Kosice, Slovakia.
After Mike Hammond had levelled the game in the third period, Germany scored two quick-fire goals to secure the three points.
