Liam Kirk scored twice to become the 2021 World Championship’s stand-alone leading goalscorer, as Great Britain were beaten 6-3 by Switzerland in their final game in Group A in Latvia.

Kirk scored his sixth and seventh goals of the group stage to go one ahead of Gregory Hofmann who was on target for the Swiss.

Liam Kirk’s fifth goal of the tournament put GB ahead against Sweden, who are ranked fourth in the world before the Swedes came back strong, firing 56 shots on the goal of Ben Bowns in a 4-1 victory.

Great Britain were beaten 4-1 by Sweden in Group A of the World Championship in Latvia this afternoon.
Liam Kirk scored his fifth goal of the World Championship to go one clear at the top of the goalscoring charts – and Matthew Myers was named captain for the game on the special occasion of his 100th GB cap.

Myers becomes fourth GB player to reach 100 caps

Forward Matthew Myers was presented with his 100th Great Britain cap ahead of this afternoon’s game with Sweden in the World Championship.

Myers will also captain his country on the very special occasion as he becomes only the fourth player in history to reach the milestone after Ashely Tait (110), David Longstaff (101) and Jonathan Phillips (101), who reached a century of caps against Denmark.
