2023 IIHF Tournament Venue Announced

The venues have been confirmed for next year’s IIHF World Championship tournaments.

Great Britain Men will play on home ice in Nottingham in the World Championship Division I Group A after Ice Hockey UK beat the proposal from Italy with 54% of the vote

The six-team group – which also consists of Italy, Korea, Lithuania, Poland and Romania – will take place from 29th April to 5th May 2023.

Great Britain Women will travel to Korea for the World Championship Division I Group B.

The six-team group will consist of GB, Italy, Kazakhstan, Korea, Poland and Slovenia, with the dates for the tournament still to be confirmed.

Great Britain Men’s Under-20s will travel to Kaunas in Lithuania for the U20 World Championship Division II Group A from 11th to 17th December 2022.

Four of the six teams in the group – GB, Lithuania, Romania and Spain – have already been confirmed.

The final two places will be made up of the two promoted sides from the Division II Group B tournament in Serbia in September, which was delayed because of the pandemic.

Great Britain Men’s Under-18s are off to Belgrade, Serbia for the World Championship Division II Group A from 16th to 22nd April 2023.

The six-team group will be made up of GB, Croatia, Lithuania, Romania, Serbia and Spain.

Great Britain Under-18 Women play their delayed 2022 World Championship Division II in Istanbul in June and July.

Therefore, the structure and teams for the 2023 tournament will be decided at the IIHF Semi-Annual Congress later this year.
